Reflections and Thanks
Growing a virtual assistant business is a dynamic journey that involves continuous learning about what works and what doesn't in the ever-evolving landscape of digital assistance. I have been growing this business alongside having a marriage and working a night job until this virtual assistant business can go full-time. December a time to reflect and give thanks.
Mingling a growing business into a marriage is about learning that your marriage comes first. I choose not to work weekends or evenings when he is home with me. It can be about keeping priorities like doing household tasks before doing work on the computer. I have told him about my feelings about having this business. He has been supportive of my idea of this business and going to networking events. He has given me extraordinary encouragement throughout the year.
Some may not know that I also work a night job, and l plan to leave it when my virtual assistant business can cover those hours. I work PRN (work as needed) when I choose to work basically. I like working this schedule because if I want to attend a local networking event at lunch or breakfast, I can ensure I am not working the night before and getting off work right before the event with no sleep. I always feel bad when I tell prospective clients about my awkward schedule to talk with them because I may be sleeping to prepare for the shift.
A virtual business is about learning many things that are involved. It can be about writing down lots of notes near the computer. It is about signing up for free downloads that can help or coaching consults to hear their viewpoints. I have been checking out various programs to help my business and myself be better organized. Some programs do have learning curves. I have been learning about my ideal clients and where to find them.
A time for giving thanks for this business at the end of the year. I have taken on some help with the business this year. She has been great in assisting me and also a good sounding board when I need to talk about business ideas, as she also has experience in the field. I have greatly enjoyed being a member of a group in the area called Little Black Book Women in Business. We meet monthly and also can talk in the Facebook groups. We are all able to share things going on in our business. I have been able to network, meet new people, and get great encouragement for my business. As I said before, I am thankful to my husband for the support he has given me when I have had ups and downs.
It is great to look back on a year, what you have learned, and what you need to change for the next year as well.
